This is just one more of those hidden away treasures around Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. If you’re into boats like me, this is a cool place to live. Literally cool too, as it’s right by the river so at night it’s both peaceful and cool!
When completed, the gated property will have 4 precincts and currently they’ve only really completed Precinct One. The attraction is of course the riverside location. Each Precinct will have a dock with about a dozen berths. From Glenmarie Cove you can head out into the Melaka Straits although that will take about 45 minutes at a fairly good pace. The river this far up is pretty clear and clean. Seemingly the surrounding mangroves do their bit to improve water quality.
The Cove is about 40 minutes drive from KL down the KESAS Highway conceivably, you can live here and work in the city but those who started with those intentions have basically moved ‘office’ into their homes and visit the city as little as possible!
We helped organise a boat show there a while back and we even managed to get a 110′ super yacht onto the end berth there. Although there are a few shallow patches on the river… if a big boat like that can make then the rest of us shouldn’t have much trouble!
What do I really like about the Cove? Peace and quiet. There even got a fabulous little mangrove walk. It’s short but sweet! I’m looking forward to slipping my Walker Bay Inflatable into the river here and then explore upstream. Apart from a pretty vicious current that flows through there, the river appears to be in a fairly healthy state.
Properties there range from the RM 500,000 – to about RM 1.5 million depending upon location and fit-out. On a worldwide scale, its still a relative bargain!
The only problems boaters may face there is that there are no real boating facilities i.e. no launching ramp or dry store area etc. If you need to launch and dry store a boat, the nearest facility is the Royal Selangor Yacht Club some 20 minutes downstream. But I would imagine, as they progress the project along they might be able to build in some boating facilities into the development.
Overall, its nice for sure…

Hey Scott, how’s life? Sorry I couldn’t get in touch with you as my phone sim card was corrupted and all datas were lost. Looking forward to learning and doing wakeboarding with you along the Langat River someday or maybe on a weekely basis. Perhaps you can moor your walker bay over at the jetty using my privilege as a resident there. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Cheers.
Hey Nicky, great to hear from you again and you managed to find my Blog, well done dude! Langat River, yeap I can’t wait to, but I’ve only got a very small boat! Am in Singapore right now but should be back home in a few weeks time and we should catch up then. Did you think my Glenmarie piece was a fair comment? And I still really love that little mangrove walk that you have there, in fact I keep taking any visitors I have to see the place and they all love it! Cheers
Hi yah Buddy,
Looking forward to seeing you again soon. The CEO of Glenmarie Cove made some modifications to one of the boats for wake boarding purposes so you can show us the right way to wake board and hopefully the trend catches on really soon over here. Do let me know when you are free to come over. We’ll have some great food after some watersport activities ya?
Hey Nicky – thanks for the note and invite. Can you send me a photo please of boat and equipment – then I’ll get a much better idea of what to do/expect. Am in Singapore now and hopefully back in KL in March. Winds been good here so busy with lots of catamaran racing. Cheers
